Much of the Sourdough trip was cross country through the alpine meadows found in the NE corner of Mt. Rainier National Park. Bear Park, Burnt Park, Huckleberry Park, Green Park and White River Park dot the area with open alpine meadows, groves of alpine firs and small lakes and tarns. Some of the best fishing in the park is found here.
