The unflappable Max Eckenburg is our
Leader and inspirational guru
He handpicked us and trained us well
With love and trust it's true

We followed him to build the trails
The bridges and his dreams
We are volunteers for the MSR
We're quite an unselfish team

As the hot summer goes racing by
We prepare for one last climb
Over loaded and equipment checked off
We start our adventure in time

We struggle up Ball Bearing Alley
At Cache' Rock we stand in awe
Rainer is towering above us
As we look up to the throne of god

Have you ever camped on a glacier wide?
At twelve thousand feet or so
With the wind flapping your tent around
And the cold stabbing through its folds

Your legs they ache your fingers numb
Your toes feel all but gone
You rest in the shadow of Willis Wall
To make your ascent at dawn

You huddle talking to your buddies
As you wait for the water to boil
The flame is weak the water unclear
The Optimus is packed with foil

The food comes luke warm the weather is bad
There is really no reason to laugh
But if you do any way and you love those guys
Then you must be Camp Sheppard Staff
