Sheppard Base is the place to go for challenging and rewarding summer adventures.

Sheppard Base offers all level of treks, from a 35 mile week long hike for the 13 year old scout to the most challenging trek in the nation, a summit climb of Mt. Rainier for those 17 and older. In between are a wide variety of hikes, climbs and mountain bike treks.

Sheppard Base is located in the Mt. Baker - Snoqualmie National Forest at the foot of majestic Mt. Rainier. Nearby is the Norse Peak, Goat Rocks and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Areas including the famous Pacific Crest Trail. Mt. Rainier is within hiking distance of the camp. It’s eye captivating 14,410 foot summit dominates the Washington skyline and is the highest peak in the state.

The Sheppard Base program area exceeds 1 million acres or over 1600 square miles of dedicated recreation area with more then 1500 jewel like lakes and 2000 plus miles of hiking trails among many high rock and glaciated peaks for a true wonderland wilderness experience.
