is our lean, mean, mountain machine. There’s
more than meets the eye to this converted school bus that does some serious
High Adventure hauling
to and from our trek trailheads.We started with a 1992 Chevrolet 1 ton chassis with Blue Bird Bus Body and dual rear wheels. The rear 2 seats were removed to load gear through the back door and seat belts were installed for 12 trekkers. Then program paint, signs and chrome wheel covers were applied. Under his hood purrs a transplanted 350 ci LT1 engine rescued out of a 1995 Buick Roadmaster gulping fresh mountain air through a K & N air filter to crank out 300 HP. Exhaust is blasted through a rumbling 50 Series Flowmaster muffler, 3” custom pipe with expanded chrome tip. Generous LT1 torque turns a 4L80 E heavy-duty 4-speed auto transmission with an additional fan cooled transmission radiator. The oversized custom engine radiator helps Igor from breaking a sweat even with a full load of trekkers and their gear while pulling a bike trailer. Other special features are an Optima battery, battery conditioner, auxiliary engine block and cab heater and dual air horns. Inside is designed to keep trekkers rock’n with a custom sound and 13” color TV system. A Pioneer 20 watt, 4 speaker deck with audio inputs for iPod, satellite, DVD, VCR and TV to enjoy tunes, training and sport videos while on the road. Decorating the walls and ceiling are a museum display of historic trek pictures, maps and inspiring posters. Igor turns heads and is your ultimate tricked out High Adventure custom ride. |
