Custom Designed Trek
Sample Itinerary

Sunday - Bus pick-up at SeaTac airport at 12 noon and/or arrive at Camp Sheppard High Adventure Base by 1PM. Introductions, trek orientation, equipment check. Instruction: Dressing for the mountains and pack packing. Instruction: Team building, map reading, route planning, food planning plus food and gear issue. Bus shuttle to selected trailhead. Hike to first nights campsite. Instruction: Camp site selection and prep plus tarp pitching, dinner. Instruction: Stove use and care, basic cooking, water treatment and illness, sanitation and hygiene, bear camping techniques, body comfort control, hypothermia and emergency procedures. Free time.

Monday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles to next camp. Instruction: Energy conservation, plant and animal identification and foot care, Lunch. Make camp, free time, Dinner. Instruction:, wilderness ethics, land use polices, High Adventure history, Leave No Trace, land use policies and daily travel planning. Free time.

Tuesday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles to next camp. Instruction: Map reading, compass and GPS use, route finding/ travel techniques and stream crossing, Lunch. Make camp. Instruction; problem solving. Free time, Dinner. Instruction; Nutrition and hydration. Free time

Wednesday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles to next camp, Lunch. Make camp. Free time, Dinner. Instruction; geology, mountain ecosystems/ habitats, weather, lighting and avalanche. Free time.

Thursday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles to next camp. Lunch. Make camp. Free time. Dinner. Free time.

Friday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles to next camp, Lunch, make camp, service project. Dinner. Free time.

Saturday - Breakfast, break camp, hike TBD miles for trailhead pick up by camp bus. Return to Sheppard Base, clean up, turn in gear, group picture, BBQ Dinner. Recognition ceremony, local trekkers leave for home, free time.

Sunday - Early breakfast, bus shuttle to Sea-Tac airport by 9AM.

Note: Depending on logistic considerations, the trek plan could include starting and ending the trek at alternate locations other then Sheppard Base.

Fishing Information- All persons fishing age 15 and over require a license $5.48 res/non-res. Ages16-69-$21.90 resident. Nonresident $43.80. Catch and release practiced for Dolle Varden Daily limit 5, no size minimum. Licenses must be purchased before arriving at camp from any license outlet or on line. The Greenwater Store sells licenses 7AM-7PM. Fishing in Mt. Rainier Park does not require a permit.
