51 Mile Sample Trek Schedule - 6 to 7 days
Sunday- Bus pick up at SeaTac airport at 12 noon, arrive at Camp Sheppard High Adventure Base by 1PM. Introductions, trek orientation, equipment check. Instruction: Dressing for the mountains and pack packing. Gear and food issue. 1.5-hour bus shuttle to Walupt Lake Campground and trailhead. Elev. 4000 feet. Instruction: Camp site selection and prep plus tarp pitching, Dinner. Instruction: Stove use and care, basic cooking, water treatment, and illness, sanitation and hygiene, bear camping techniques, body comfort control, hypothermia and emergency procedures. Free time.

Monday - Breakfast, break camp, hike along Walupt Lake 7.8 miles to Sheep Lk. camp Elev. 5800'. Instruction: Energy conservation, plant and animal identification and foot care, Lunch. Make camp, free time, Dinner. Instruction: Food planning, wilderness ethics, land use polices, High Adventure history, Leave No Trace, land use policies and daily travel planning. Free time.

Tuesday - Breakfast, break camp, hike through Cispus Pass, Elev. 6400’ and Snowgrass Flats 7.7 miles to Goat Lk. camp. Instruction: Map reading, compass and GPS use, route finding/ travel techniques and stream crossing, Lunch. Make camp. Instruction; problem solving. Free time, Dinner. Instruction; Nutrition and hydration. Free time

Wednesday - Breakfast, pack for day hike up Old Snowy Mt. Hike 5.3 miles to the summit of Old Snowy, Elev. 7930’, Lunch, group picture. Return to Goat Lk. camp, Dinner. Instruction; geology, mountain ecosystems/ habitats, weather, lighting and avalanche. Free time.

Thursday - Breakfast, break camp, hike above Packwood Glacier Elev. 7200’ and through Elk Pass, Elev. 6700’, 10.7 miles to McCall Basin camp. Lunch. Make camp. Free time, explore meadows. Dinner. Free time.

Friday - Breakfast, break camp, hike 5.1 miles to Hidden Spring camp, Lunch, make camp, service project. Dinner. Free time.

Saturday - Breakfast, break camp, hike Past Shoe Lk. 9.1 miles to White Pass by afternoon, Lunch. Bus shuttle to Sheppard Base. Clean up, turn in gear, group picture, BBQ Dinner. Recognition ceremony, local trekkers leave for home, free time. Guests are invited to our 5 PM all-you-can-eat chicken BBQ and awards ceremony for $5 per person. They should inform Base in advance of arrival please.

Sun.- Early breakfast, bus shuttle to Sea-Tac airport by 9AM.


37 Mile Sample Trek Schedule -, 6 days, 5 nights
Same as above except 4.5 mile hike to Sheep Lake on Monday and only one night at Goat Lk. Trek will go over Old Snowy Mt. on the way to McCall Basin on Wednesday and arrive at White Pass Friday afternoon. Bus shuttle to Sea-Tac Saturday AM.
