The Trek-
Imagine the view of morning sunshine warming mountain peaks that surround
your patrol’s lake area
camp. The sweet smell of alpine fir. Trout jumping for breakfast bugs.
A dew-covered shoreline ready for
your footsteps.
This trek will introduce younger scouts, beginning at age 13, to our
exciting High Adventure program. We venture into the majestic Norse
Peak Wilderness
Area on the Pacific Crest Trail
to camp near beautiful alpine lakes, fishing enjoyment optional.
We include Leave No Trace camping and cooking, map, compass and GPS
instruction,
some cross country hiking, problem solving, exploration, merit badge
work, Ranger award experience, patrol building, individual recognition
and excitement. This specialized experience will prepare young trekkers
to return to our High Adventure Base for even greater challenges. We’re
going, let’s hike!
Suggested physical
training before the trek: Cardio-vascular exercise such as hiking with
a loaded pack, biking, running and weight training.
