Overview
Imagine a beautiful
chalet-style mountain camp surrounded by lofty peaks that hold an unparalleled
mountain bike trail network. Our routes have
been featured 3 months straight in Mountain Bike magazine and attract
riders all the way from Europe. Come enjoy the camp and learn all the
skills necessary to unlock the full potential of your mountain bike.
Our instructors are experienced cyclists that provide technical instruction
to riders of all abilities in a supervised atmosphere that encourages
learning in addition to athletic development. They will lead you all
week with their thorough knowledge of the trail network. Each instructor
carries emergency communication and first aid equipment plus is trained
in emergency procedures.
The
first day of instruction concentrates on safe skill development on
our Base obstacle course and beginner level trails. The next 4 days
we offer a range of challenges and adventures. Riders can choose
gentle scenic routes or challenging single-track descents.
Mountain biking is fun and very similar to skiing in that you ride
at your own pace in beautiful terrain and even more fun to ride with
good
technique. You will learn to ride smoothly, shifting properly while
reading the terrain and adopting a responsive position on the bike.
We do not
teach air jumps or trick riding.
Each day’s activity will begin with a hearty breakfast in our lodge
dining hall followed by teaching and practicing new skills such as controlled
turning on varied surfaces, ascending and descending, positioning and
negotiating obstacles. Then it’s a van ride to the top of the day’s
descent to put your newly acquired skills to good use. During the descent
you will enjoy a pleasant lunch and equipment check. At the end of the
ride you will be back in camp for a shower and scrumptious dinner. After
dinner you’ll have free time to ask our instructors about the next
days ride, enjoy some rider videos with snacks and share the days experiences
with your partners. A good night’s rest comes from our comfortable
cabin bunks.
If you can comfortably complete a 40-mile road ride you should be
able to fully enjoy this trek.
Note: This trek requires
good leg and lung capacity. Suggested physical training before the
trek: Cardio-vascular exercise such as hiking with a loaded pack, biking,
running and weight training.
