You Provide
We Provide

Equipment
__ Pack - medium size, large enough to carry all personal and some team gear
__ Sleeping pad - Thermarest or equivalent
__ Sleeping bag – lightweight, warm to 45 degrees or colder.
__ Sleeping bag stuff sack - nylon with plastic sack liner to keep bag dry
__ 2 Sleeping bag straps - nylon with buckle, not bungee type
__ Drinking cup – plastic, not metal
__ Bowl – large plastic
__ Eating spoon - large
__ 2 Water bottles – wide mouth with name or initials written on them
__ Pocket knife - small
__ Disposable lighter or matches - in waterproof container
__ Strong headlamp - with 50 ft forward beam, extra batteries and bulb
__ Bike helmet - approved
__ Sunglasses - UV and polarizing
__ 2 Trash bags - emergency shelter and/or pack rain cover
__ Travel/Duffel bag – (for spare clothes, etc, store in support vehicle. Mark all personal items with your name).

Clothing
__ 2 Changes underwear – (carry 1, store 1 in travel bag)
__ 4 Tee shirts – (wear 1, carry 1, store 2 - not cotton) A Class B uniform scout T- shirt will be worn during program activities at Sheppard Base. Wearing a complete Class A field uniform during Sheppard Base dinner and ceremonies is encouraged if you own one.
__ Long underwear- lightweight poly or wool (not cotton), long sleeved top and bottom
__ Warm shirt - long sleeved poly or wool (no cotton)
__ 2nd Warm shirt, jacket or sweater – thick poly fleece, wool or down, roomy to fit OVER other layers
__ Raincoat or jacket - Gore-tex or coated nylon with hood (no poncho)
__ Warm hat or balaclava – poly or wool
__ Sun hat - ball cap and/or bandana
__ Lightweight gloves – poly or wool (no cotton)
__ Hiking shorts – (no cotton)
__ Warm pants - poly fleece or wool (no cotton), legs open wide enough to go on OVER boots
__ Rain pants or chaps - Gore-tex or coated nylon, legs open wide enough to put on OVER boots
__ 7 pr socks – 4 light, 3 heavyweight, poly or wool (not cotton), (wear 2, carry 2, store 3)
__ Hiking boots - broken in, waterproof treated
__ Travel clothes – (store at Base)
Note: Pack clothes in plastic bags to keep them dry inside pack.

__ Sunscreen - spf rated
__ Toothbrush & toothpaste
__ Hand towel - small
__ Moleskin – blister treatment
__ Band Aids
__ Aspirin/Ibuprofen
__ Adhesive tape - small 1” roll

__ Bivy Sack – lightweight (for spontaneous sleep time)
__ Trekking poles – (used to aid balance and rest legs)
__ Gaiters – lightweight (keeps water and wind out of boot top area)
__ Travel/Camp shoes – light weight sneakers or sandals (in travel bag)

__ Paperback book – (rest time)
__ Trekker’s museum donation - Council/Unit patch or nic-nac from each unit on the trek (store at Base)

-Mountain Bike in good working order geared for cross-country. Front suspension is highly recommended. Toe clips are not recommended. Clipless pedals are optional.
-You will be able to rent front suspension bikes and helmets for $70 for the duration of the week. If you do plan to rent please let us know at time of registration your height and bike choice. See our bike supply shop - Black Diamond Bike and Backcountry.
Note: In addition to the personal equipment listed above you will be required to carry a share of team gear such as a stove and sleeping bag. You must be able to load your pack with your equipment as to leave additional room for team gear. Mark all personal items with your name.
