You Provide

Equipment
__ Day pack - medium size, large enough to carry extra clothes, some gear, food and drink
__ 2 Water bottles – wide mouth with name or initials written on them
__ Drinking cup – plastic, not metal
__ Pocket knife - small
__ Disposable lighter or matches - in waterproof container
__ Headlamp or small flashlight - with extra batteries and bulb
__ Bike helmet - approved
__ Sunglasses - with side shading, UV and polarizing
__ 2 Trash bags – (emergency shelter)
__ Travel/Duffel bag – (for spare clothes, etc., store at Base. Mark all personal items with your name.)

Clothing
__ 2 Changes underwear – (store in travel bag)
__ 3 Tee shirts – (wear 1, carry 1, store 1 - not cotton) A Class B uniform scout T- shirt will be worn during program activities at Sheppard Base. Wearing a complete Class A field uniform during Sheppard Base dinner and ceremonies is encouraged.
__ Long underwear - lightweight poly or wool (not cotton), long sleeved top and bottom
__ Warm shirt – long sleeved poly or wool (no cotton)
__ 2nd Warm shirt, jacket or sweater – poly fleece, wool, or down, roomy to fit OVER other layers
__ Raincoat or jacket - Gore-tex or coated nylon with hood (no poncho)
__ Warm hat – poly or wool
__ Sun hat - ball cap and/or bandana
__ Bike gloves – nylon with leather palms (for riding, rope belaying and ice axe handling)
__ Lightweight gloves – poly or wool
__ Hiking shorts – not cotton
__ Warm pants – poly fleece or wool, (no cotton) legs open wide enough to go on OVER boots
__ Rain pants or chaps - Gore-tex or coated nylon, legs open wide enough to put on OVER boots
__ 5 pr socks – 3 light, 2 heavyweight, poly or wool - not cotton (wear 2, carry 2, store 1)
__ Hiking boots - broken in, waterproof treated
__ Travel clothes (store at Base)

Mountain Bike, in good working order. Front suspension is recommended. Toe clips are not recommended. Clipless pedals are optional. You will be able to rent front suspension bikes and helmets for $20 per day from Black Diamond Bike & Backcountry. Advance notice is required with name and height.

Note: In addition to the personal equipment listed above you will be required to carry a share of group gear depending on the trek such as shelters, ropes and hardware. You must be able to load your pack with your equipment as to leave additional room for group gear. Mark all personal items with your name.
