What you are about to read is tentative at best. I still must consult the guide books and the park service about routes and accesses. But, this should give you a feel for what I am dreaming up.
Friday, July 6 - Arrive at Yosemite Park. Camp in Tuolumne Meadows campground. Sort gear, check food supplies, acquire bear cans, get wilderness permit, arrange for horse to drop food at Vogelsang High Sierra Camp.,
Saturday, July 7 - Leave from Cathedral Lakes Trailhead. Camp near Cathedral Peak. Climb Cathedral Peak via route of your choice or explore and fish local lakes. Descend to camp.
Sunday, July 8th - Travel cross country to Mathis Lake basin. Camp near upper end of drainage
Monday, July 9th - Climb Mathis Crest or explore and fish Mathis Lake area. If time permits move camp to Nelson Lake.
Tuesday, July 10th - Traverse south to Vogelsang High Sierra Camp via Rafferty Peak. Pick up food drop and leave unnecessary items to be taken out. Stay at Fletcher Lake or Evelyn Lake or Townsley Lake above Fletcher. Possible climb of face of Fletcher?
Wednesday, July 11th - Hike past Ireland Lake (great fishing, small but lots of em) and climb up through pass to Amelia Earhart Peak. Scramble to summit of Amelia Earhart Peak, then descend to tarns southwest of peak for evening.
Thursday - July 12th - Traverse and climb peaks (Parsons and Simmons) along ridge between camping tarns and Mt. McClure. Camp in the McClure Lake area.
Friday, July 13th - Climb Mt. Lyell and descend the SW ridge or face. Traverse south on top of ridge to Rodgers Pk. Camp in gap north of Rogers Peak, or climb Rodgers Peak and descend south side to camp.
Saturday, July 14th, Run the ridge between Rodgers Peak and Davis Peak, if route allows. Otherwise, drop on west side of ridge to lakes at 10,400’ and traverse low and then ascend Davis Peak.
Sunday, July 15th, Descend to Catherine Lake
Monday, July 16th, Rest a day at Catherine Lake.
Tuesday, July 17th, Climb to the col between Banner Peak and Ritter Peak. Climb Banner Peak. Descend to Col. Camp.
Wednesday, July 18th, Climb Ritter Peak and descend the south east route angling south to pass between Mt. Ritter and Minarets. Camp at small tarns to the west of the Minarets.
Thursday, July 19th, Spend the day climbing various peaks in the Minarets.
Friday, July 20th, Hike over gap between Mt. Ritter and the Minarets. Descend to Eliza Lake, continue out through Shadow Lake down to the San Joaquin River and up to trailhead at Agnew Meadows. Catch shuttle bus to Reds Meadow Shower hut. Shower, clean up. Catch bus Mammoth Mountain. Spend the night at Mammoth Mountain.
Saturday, July 21st, Catch shuttle bus back to Tuolumne Meadows and vehicles. All agree it is the best trip every taken by any group of human beings and resolve to pick an equally cool destination for next summer. Go our separate ways.
