Llama Marketplace was born out of frustration. In
1989 my husband, Steve and I had decided to raise llamas. We had seen llamas on
display 2 years earlier at the Western Washington Fair. This was the only place
we had ever seen llamas and we had no idea where to find some to buy. I looked
in the yellow pages under llamas...nothing. I looked under livestock...nothing.
I thought geez, how can we find someone to sell us llamas? We did see an ad in
the Seattle Times for a llama auction and purchased our first
females.
I didn't realize it at the time, but my
frustration and desire to help others would come together in a wonderful
way.
On one of my trips to the feed store, I came
across an issue of Horse Trader. I thought, what a wonderful idea! I wonder why
no one is doing this for llamas? I still had no inkling of my
destiny.
A year later my daughter, Brenda graduated from computer
college and my first question was: "Can you produce a magazine like Horse
Trader on a computer"? When her answer was "yes", my mind began to imagine the
possibilities.
My daughter and I would be in business together.
My beautiful granddaughter, Jessica would not have to be raised in daycare, by
strangers, as my kids were. Not only would we be able to strengthen our family
but, we would be able to help llama owners and llama buyers find each other by
putting Llama Marketplace in the feed stores.
Now, anyone interested in finding llamas can look
in the nearest feed store. |
